Content Creator Questionnaire: Becky

In this content creator questionnaire, Becky shares how she went from entrepreneurship and coaching into UGC, what surprised her most about the creator economy, and the tools that make her workflow feel simple and professional.

What got you started on your content creator journey?

To be honest, I always wanted to be a content creator. It has been a dream of mine since I was a teenager. I was convinced in college that I was going to graduate and go be a travel blogger. I chickened out of that and ended up becoming an entrepreneur at 22 instead (not in the travel niche, HA).

But, back in college I was doing a little bit of influencer type content. I always took pictures of my meals when I went out to eat and posted about them to Instagram, I had a blog for awhile, and even got brands to send me their products. I did business coaching for five years and for a long time I loved it, until I didn't. All the while, in the back of my head, I always thought about content creation as a career.

Then, in 2023, I saw so many people on TikTok talking about UGC. It made me realize that I could be a content creator for my career without having to be an influencer and I was sold. I locked in, got really focused, and within my first month and a half, I had landed two retainer deals.

What's something people wouldn't be able to find out about you by just looking at your TikTok?

I'm a horse girl LOL. I rode horses my entire childhood and love horses so much. I actually really want to get back into horseback riding and just need to make some phone calls, so maybe at some point you would know this by just looking at my TikTok!

What was your favorite brand collab you've done so far?

I've had some really cool projects with brands over the past two and a half years, but a niche I've really loved working in is SaaS. I've worked on three briefs with Scribe and I think those have been my favorite collaborations so far. The communication was top tier, I felt appreciated and respected as a creator, and I overall just had a ton of fun filming the content.

What has been the best part of becoming a content creator that you didn't expect?

The friendships! Being an entrepreneur of any kind, but especially a content creator, can be so lonely. I did not go into this expecting that I'd build life long friends from it, but it's truly been the biggest blessing of this career. I've made some of my closest friends from the community I've built as a creator. They're who I go to for all of my business questions and support. They're who I talk to more than anyone else. They're who I share my wins and losses with. I'm so grateful for all of them and honestly don't know if I'd be where I am without them.

What are 5 tools, tech or apps that you can't live without as a content creator?

  • My DJI Osmo Pocket 3 - I love filming content with this camera. It looks so elevated and my clients always love it.
  • Julip - I love having an elevated link in bio and Julip gives me that. It makes me feel that much more professional.
  • CapCut Pro - I have mixed feelings about CapCut, but at the end of the day, it's the easiest (in my opinion) editing platform to use and it's pretty common so you can find a lot of tutorials!
  • DJI Mic Mini - I love this mic. I think the sound quality is great and if you have a DJI camera, it links seamlessly plus it has an adapter to easily use it with your phone.
  • My tripod - This tripod is fantastic! It's magsafe, which makes it so easy to use with your phone and it has this clip you can pull out to hang it on a door or cabinet for great angles.

Is there a social media platform you prefer? And if so, why?

I'm a TikTok girl through and through. It just feels like the platform with the most possibilities/opportunities. On top of that, for some reason, it's become this platform where you're really encouraged to just be yourself. There's certain types of content that you can create and post on TikTok that just wouldn't get the same reaction or support on other platforms. I don't, but I really could spend all day on TikTok.

If you were to describe your favorite type of brand to work with, what would they be and why?

To be so honest, I'm really not picky. As long as I like/believe in the product, I'm so down to work with a brand. I do love working in the SaaS niche as it forces you to be more creative and think outside the box. I also love anything related to travel since I love to travel so much. But, at the end of the day, the most important thing to me is a brand who has great communication and respects their creators. There is nothing worse than doing a collaboration with a brand that has you waiting weeks for an email reply or doesn't pay your invoice on time.

What's the most you've ever made on a brand partnership and what was included?

I think my highest paying collaboration was $2300. Keep in mind I'm a UGC creator, so this is different from influencers. This was for 5 UGC videos with 4 hook variations for each video. I also include perpetual usage in all of my rates. The most I've ever made for one singular video was $1200 and my jaw was on the floor when I got the contract for this. This, in my opinion, is not very common, especially in the beginning of your UGC career. It was a lucky opportunity that fell into my lap, but still super cool to share and show that it is possible!

Who are 3 other accounts that you admire as a content creator and why?

I mainly follow other UGC creators, so that's who I'm going to share. I love Kelly's content. She's so informative and there's just always something to learn from her so I really admire her. I also really admire one of my best friends, Julia. She has such fun content and I swear she has been an amazing UGC creator since the first video she ever made. I always get sucked into her videos whether they're for her personal brand or they're ads I see pop up on my socials. I also really admire my friend Shy's content. I love her editing styles and how engaging she is in all of her content. She does a phenomenal job building a personal brand and I just find it so much fun to view her content. When I think about who I admire, I think about the type of creator I want to be and I definitely feel these three women are a blend of that.

What is your process for creating content? Do you have a strategy? A secret method?

Becky image 3

When it comes to my personal brand, it's part strategy and part vibes. I sat down and asked myself who I really wanted to be. How did I want to be perceived online and what kind of brand did I want to build. My goal with my personal brand is two-fold - I want to build my own community on the internet and I want to attract brands who then want to work with me for UGC. Based on these two things, I knew I needed to build a personal brand that blended my personality with valuable, educational style content.

So, the strategy part comes from thinking big picture, building content pillars, and finding the themes that bring everything together even if to the naked eye, it seems chaotic. The vibes part comes from feeling into what feels exciting to talk about and what feels exciting to share.

What's your favorite part about Julip?

I love that Julip makes my link in bio personal. It's not just another boring bio link, but it truly is like a mini personalized website. I honestly think anybody, especially creators, who don't use Julip are seriously missing out. There's so much versatility and I know that when someone is going to my link in bio, they'll have no problem finding what they need.

Here’s my Julip and I’m loving it!

I'm a UGC creator who lives for storytelling that stops the scroll and sells the product. I'm all about making content that feels like a FaceTime from your bestie, just with better lighting and a clear CTA. Basically, I make the internet a little more fun (and brands a lot more money). When I'm not scripting ads or nerding out over my business, you can find me chasing flights, walking my dog, or reading a book. Fun fact: I grew up riding and showing horses.
