In this industry interview, we sit down with Alex Esteban, a lifestyle content creator who creates authentic content about everything from grilling to being a dad. Known for being in and winning a Mr Beast Challenge, Alex shares his journey, his approach to lifestyle content, and what he's learned along the way.
What got you started on your content creator journey?
Honestly, it was my wife. She was the one who introduced me to youtube and watching peoples lives online. I thought it was a wild concept initially until I started finding youtubers that I loved watching as well. Eventually, I decided to take the next step and start creating. It has always been more of an outlet for me to let the creative side of my brain express itself in video, whatever that looks like. I really enjoy it.
The creative side and the challenging side of it as well. Trying to figure out what works, what doesn't work, etc. I think I will be doing it for a long time.
What's something people wouldn't be able to find out about you by just looking at your Instagram?
Probably that I am a massive drake and lebron james fan haha.
What was the biggest challenge when you first started creating content?
For sure finding my lane and the content I want to create. Its hard to niche down when you are interested in so many things. I like grilling, business, real estate, sports, being a dad and husband, traveling… its kind of endless. I don't really have a specific thing I want to create content about so I decided that I'm just going to be a "lifestyle" content creator and create about everything/my life.
What is the best piece of advice you received from a brand, fellow content creator, entrepreneur etc?
I think the hardest thing for most creators or people getting started or even if you've been in it for a while is staying consistent. It's hard. Especially as a parent. And especially when you don't see the results you want to see initially. It can be discouraging. But I think staying consistent no matter what will always bring you great results in the end.
What would you say you're known for and HOW did you become known for that thing?
Probably the most notable thing I'm known for in the social media world was being in and winning a Mr Beast Challenge. In my day to day life, I'd say real estate and dad life!
What was your favorite brand collab you've done so far?
Hands down working with Dad Water. They are a tequila water company, sister co to Mom Water. But they booked an entire golf outing for me and my friends, paid me and gave me some sick stuff. That was such a fun experience.
What has been the best part of becoming a content creator that you didn't expect?
I think the fun collabs and opportunities that randomly come up. You really never know what you're going to get. You can wake up to one email and it be just a brand new fun opportunity. I enjoy the adventure that is content creating.
What are 5 tools, tech or apps that you can't live without as a content creator?
- Absolutely JULIP!
- CapCut
- ChatGPT
- Canva
- Hudlr (keeps track of my tax info!)
What is something you wish you knew when you first started creating content?
Probably just knowing what world I want to be a creator in. Like I wish I would've just done it from the beginning and been a lifestyle creator and then just done it consistently from day one. I've tried a lot of stuff here and there and it usually doesn't feel right.
Is there a social media platform you prefer? And if so, why?
I have a love-hate relationship with IG. It's probably where I spend most of my time on social media, but trying to figure out reach and algorithm on there is not for the weak. It will test you. Next i'd go to YouTube and then TikTok.
What's the most you've ever made on a brand partnership and what was included?
Most was through the YouTube Brand deal, I was paid $3k for a sponsor integration on one of my videos, 60-90 seconds.
What's your favorite part about Julip?
My favorite part about Julip is just how easy it is to get things set up. I'm all about being the most efficient I can be in life and if there is a faster and better way to do something that is going to get me the same or better results I'm all in and Julip does that wonderfully in my opinion!
