Keeley shares what sparked her UGC journey, the mindset shifts that helped her show up consistently, and the tools + community-building lessons that shaped her growth.
1. What got you started on your content creator / freelancer /entrepreneurial journey?
I saw someone on TikTok talking about UGC and how much money she made doing it. It took one video for me to realize that I had the skills and the drive to try this for myself. That one video changed my life. I’m so grateful I came across it because it opened the door to an entirely new career path.
2. What’s something people wouldn’t be able to find out about you just by looking at your social media?
People wouldn’t know that I actually went to school for fashion. I studied the business side of the industry, completed a Fashion Management program, and earned a diploma in it.
3. What was the biggest challenge when you first started creating content?
My biggest challenge was analysis paralysis. I was constantly in my head, convincing myself my content wasn’t good enough, which stopped me from posting altogether at times. I could create seamlessly for brands, but creating for myself felt so much harder. That internal resistance was a huge hurdle in the beginning and honestly still shows up sometimes.
4. What is the best piece of advice you received from a brand or fellow content creator?
The best advice I received came early in my journey: take everything. At the beginning, the more flexible you are, the faster you build your portfolio and the more money you make. Once I stopped being overly selective and put myself out there more, my entire trajectory shifted. My first year was incredible because of that advice.
5. What was your favorite brand collab, client work, or project you’ve done so far?
Working with MUD\WTR. That partnership genuinely changed my life. I’ve been drinking MUD\WTR for three years and I barely touch coffee anymore. It’s become part of my daily routine, and I’ve had the opportunity to work with them in 2023, 2024, and again this year. It’s been one of my most meaningful long-term collaborations.
6. What has been the best part of becoming a content creator that you didn’t expect?
The best part has been the friendships and connections I’ve made along the way. I never expected to meet so many incredible people who genuinely support me, cheer me on, and feel like they’re in my corner. It’s been such a blessing, and I feel really lucky to have built those relationships through this work. And honestly, getting to try amazing products for free has also been such a fun and unexpected bonus.
7. What are 5 tools, tech, or apps you can’t live without?
- Notion – My entire business runs through it.
- ChatGPT – My daily assistant for strategy, writing, and workflow.
- Google Docs + Google Sheets – I use them constantly for client work, outreach, and content organization.
- CapCut + Adobe Premiere Pro – My go-to editing tools (I consider them a pair).
- Buffer – The LinkedIn scheduling tool I love and use all the time.
8. What is something you wish you knew when you first started?
I wish I knew how much work it truly takes to build a community. I wasn’t naive about landing brand deals, but I was naive about the long-term impact of not nurturing an audience early. Three years into my business, I’m now building the community I always wanted. I wish I had prioritized that sooner, because eventually you don’t want to only create for brands you want to teach, lead, and connect. That requires a very intentional approach to your own content and social presence.
9. If you were to describe your favorite type of client to work with, what would they be and why?
My ideal client is one who has clear direction, well-written scripts, and a deep understanding of their customer and of content itself. A lot of brands understand their customer but don’t understand content, so they end up with cheesy, generic, AI-sounding scripts. I want to work with brands who value nuance, creativity, and strategic storytelling.
10. What’s your favorite part about Julip?
My favorite part about Julip is how easy it is to use. It’s clean, visually polished, and keeps your portfolio organized in a way that looks great on both desktop and mobile. It makes presenting your work feel seamless. And I can’t forget to mention how AMAZING Jamie is. Such a sweet soul and you can tell she’s very passionate about what Julip brings to the industry. Jamie will be doing big things with Julip!
