In todays age, people are typically not typing, www.yourdomain.com. They're searching for you and your business by typing the name in google, social etc.
So, to be honest a domain is not necessary to have custom and in a world where the biggest clicks are happening in your link in bio space on social why bother managing your domain/paying for it?!
